A New Theory About the Revelation of the Qur'an in Ramaḍān

| Islamic scholars have expressed different opinions about the revelation of the Qur'an in Ramaḍān. But none of them seem to be based on solid evidence and are briefly reviewed in the article. It seems that the verses indicating the revelation of the Qur'an in the month of Ramaḍān and the Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Decree) refer to an immutable divine tradition; and it means that every firm, dignified matter and every important event is measured and approved on the Laylatul Qadr, because the Laylatul Qadr is the night of judgment. Then it appears and manifests at the appointed time and place. Therefore, the Holy Qur'an, which is a wise and solid copy of the guidance of mankind until eternity, was revealed on the Laylatu Qadr during the Prophet's mission. So, on the Laylatul Qadr, Allah's command is to reveal the Qur'an gradually on the heart of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his purified progeny) to guide the people. Qur'anic and narrative reasons indicate this view, and its details are stated in the article. |
