The Wahhabi sect has always sought to challenge the virtues of Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (as) and, in particular, to critique the hadiths that affirm his unbroken leadership (Imamate). One such hadith is the "Betrayal of the Ummah" (Ghadar al-Ummah) hadith, which Wahhabis consider to be fabricated and unreliable. However, a thorough review of the Sunni sources in the fields of virtue, history, hadith criticism (Rijāl), theology, and narrations shows that the prevailing view among Sunnis differs from the Wahhabi claim. Many Sunni scholars, including prominent hadith experts, have deemed this hadith authentic or reliable. This study, using a descriptive-analytical approach and a critical method, investigates the Wahhabi objections regarding this hadith. The results demonstrate that this hadith is recorded in the reliable Sunni sources, and its narrators are considered trustworthy. Therefore, the Wahhabi claim of its fabrication does not align with the evidence found in Sunni sources.
