Following the revelation period of the Quran in the history of interpretation, we witnessthe advent of an approach tointerpretation that pursuesthe interpretation of the Quran merely within the context of hadith sciences. According to this approach, speculation and ijtihadin the field of the implications of the Qur'an is blocked. For this reason, Sheikh Tusirefers to those who did not allow the interpretation of any part of the Quran except through benefiting from narrated traditions. Obvious signs of this narrative trendare observed in the eleventh century and in the discourse of suchAkhbari exponentsas Astarabadi. It is worth mentioning that all the affiliates ofthis schooldid not have the same interpretation outlook. One of these interpreters is SeyedNematollahJaza'eri, the author ofUqud al-MarjanInterpretation. The present article deals with the interpretation method of this interpreter. Givenits author's intellectual perspective, thiswork is categorized as an Akhbari interpretation. Despite his Akhbari perspective, he has made use of other Shiite and Sunni interpreters’ views as well as the hadiths of the infallibles (a.s.) and he has selectively mentioned them next to the verses. In some cases, the interpreter has expressedpreferenceas to a statement in comparison to another statement and haseven mentioned ideas with respect to a verse. Hence, although thiswork of interpretation mostly has an Akhbari atmosphere,it can be generally said thatit has deviated from its Akhbari approach in its various passages. Various citations from such commentators as SheykhTusi, Tabarsi,Zamakhshariand others whose interpretation approach was different from that of Akhbaris’ verify this deviation and even it can be said that he has accepted the statements which were deemed to be rational. |
