A Research on the Ideological Aspect of Qur’an Translations by Orientalists (Case Study: French Translations by Blasher, Berek and Hamidullah)

| It is obvious that the translation of any text rewrites the original text and adapts it to the linguistic, cultural and ideological criteria of the target language. Therefore, it is impossible to separate the ideological aspect from other aspects of translation. Therefore, under no circumstances should this aspect distort the original text or change its meaning. However, this ideology has made an impact in the apparently scientific and precise translation process of many orientalists. In this research, which was conducted with a descriptive and analytical approach, the following results were obtained: 1- Blasher's policy in translating the Qur'an is sometimes to falsify and change the order of the verses in the original text, as well as to distort the meanings of Islamic and Qur'anic words. 2- Berek's translation is considered one of the fair translations of the Qur'an, which differs from Blasher's translation in some ways and has much fewer problems. 3- Hamidullah's translation also contains some errors and in certain cases, it is not able to convey the exact and complete meaning of the Qur'an to the French-speaking reader. |
